Beauty Barry was one of two winners today for Gore trainer Tony Stratford.

Going into his race at Wyndham, his form had been good with a last start fourth at Invercargill.

“It wasn’t a surprise. The form around him in his last few runs has been alright ,” Stratford said after the run.

Driver Blair Orange snagged the American Ideal gelding back off the gate from a wide draw, getting on the back of the favourite Lucky Galleon. When Lucky Galleon improved inside the 600 metres Beauty Barry got a nice drag into the race.  Soon after, Lucky Galleon mastered pacemaker Where’s Daddy before Beauty Barry arrived to take the win by half a head.

The four year old was bred and is owned by John, Shane, Jason and Dianne Cleland from Waikaka.

“John always had horses with Ken McRae like The Bellbird. They also raced Captain Mannering with me. They’ve always had one or two with us.”

The win was one of three for Orange, making it two for Stratford with Major Punter winning later in the programme.
