Front: Trotters with no wins for lifetime. 20m: Horses with 1 or more wins for lifetime. For horses who were either (MR) non-win or 1-win at time of the 1st March 2024, and have raced at a Southern Harness meeting at least once between 1st March 2024 and 27th April 2024. See special condition No.6
For 3 yrs & older trotting fillies & mares with 1 to 2 wins for lifetime. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Rating using the track grid. See special condition No.6
For R35 to R65 3yo-&-older trotters. Front: R35 to R39. 10m: R40 to R50. 20m: R51 to R57. 30m: R58 to R65. The winner will get a rating penalty free win if 4YO and older, and driven by a Junior Driver, and has not previously won a rating penalty free race this season. See special condition No.6
For 2-year-old pacers. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Sex (fillies drawn inside colts and geldings) using the track grid. In the event this race is not run, those remaining acceptors will become eligible for & transferred to either of Races 5 or 6, depending on Sex.
For 3yo-&-older pacing fillies & mares. In the event this Race 4 is not run, those remaining 2YO filly acceptors will become eligible for & transferred to this race.
For 3yo-&-older pacers. If sufficient nominations this race may be split based on age. In the event this Race 4 is not run, those remaining 2YO colt or gelding acceptors will become eligible for & transferred to this race.
For 3 yrs & older pacers with 1 win for lifetime. If sufficient nominations this race will be split based on ratings.
For R35 to R55 3 yrs & older pacers with 2 or more wins for lifetime. These races will be split by Ratings. The lowest rating race will be run for $10,000. Preferential Barrier Draws will be applied if deemed necessary.

  1. RIGHT OF RE-ENTRY TIME


    Shall be 5pm on day before raceday.

  2. ORIGINAL NOMINATIONS


    In the event horses are transferred to another race from the trainer, selection preference will be given to original nominations received for that race.

  3. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NOMINATORS


    Owners and Trainers are reminded that the club has the right to transfer any horse not selected to start in a race for which it was nominated to ANY OTHER RACE ON THE PROGRAMME for which it may be eligible. If you do not wish the club to exercise it's right to transfer a particular nominated horse then it is your responsibility as the nominator to advise the club of the same.

  4. SPLITTING FIELDS


    In the event any race or races are split on this Programme, unless specific in the individual race conditions, races will be split and selected at the club's discretion, with consideration given to Ratings in the first instance.

  5. DUAL ACCEPTORS/NOMINATORS


    In the event that horses have gained a start at another meeting these horses are not guaranteed to gain a start at this meeting.

  6. GOLD CHIP FINAL


    For non-win (MR), or up to 1 win trotters for lifetime aged two years and older at the closing of nominations for the Oamaru HRC meeting held on Wednesday 6th March 2024. Conditions: 1. Open to all trotters aged two years and older that have never won a race (non-winners, MR), or have won one win for lifetime. 2. To be eligible to start in the Gold Chip Championship Trot a horse must start in at least one race or an open trot race run by Southern Harness Racing Clubs (Oamaru HRC, Northern Southland TC, Wyndham HRC, Invercargill HRC, Winton HRC and Wairio TC) and have its second win in the period from 6th March 2024 through to 27th April 2024 at a Southern Harness Racing Club meeting. 3. Field selection for the Gold Chip Final will operate as follows: Most wins at during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, most 2nds during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, most 3rds during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, then club discretion. 4. The $15000 Gold Chip Final will be raced over 2400m, from a standing start. Non-win (MR) horses will start off the front. R rated horses off a 20 metre handicap. 6. A horse can only win one Gold Chip Final.
