WINTON CUP DAY - Day 1

For 2-year-old trotters. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid. In the event the 2YO race is not run, those remaining acceptors will become eligible for and transferred to the appropriate race(s) relative to their ratings and sex.
For 3-year-old pacing colts & geldings. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid.
For 2-year-old pacing colts & geldings. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid.
For 3-year-old pacing fillies. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid. For conditions of series can be viewed on the Southern Harness Website. If this race is not held those eligible horses will be transferred to other races and conditions changed.
For R51 to R100 pacers. Front: R51 to R57. 10m: R58 to R65. 20m: R66 to R75. 30m: R76 to R85. 40m: R86 to R100. The winner will get a rating penalty free win if 4YO and older, and driven by a Junior Driver, and has not previously won a rating penalty free race this season. This race is included in the COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. This race is included in the Southern Cups Series.
For R51 to R80 3yo-&-older trotters. Front: R51 to R57. 10m: R58 to R65. 20m: R66 to R73. 30m: R74 to R80. The winner will get a rating penalty free win if 4YO and older, and driven by a Junior Driver, and has not previously won a rating penalty free race this season.
  1. RIGHT OF RE-ENTRY TIME


    Shall be 5pm on day before raceday.

  2. ORIGINAL NOMINATIONS


    In the event horses are transferred to another race from the trainer, selection preference will be given to original nominations received for that race.

  3. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NOMINATORS


    Owners and Trainers are reminded that the club has the right to transfer any horse not selected to start in a race for which it was nominated to ANY OTHER RACE ON THE PROGRAMME for which it may be eligible. If you do not wish the club to exercise it's right to transfer a particular nominated horse then it is your responsibility as the nominator to advise the club of the same.

  4. SPLITTING FIELDS


    In the event any race or races are split on this Programme, unless specific in the individual race conditions, races will be split and selected at the club's discretion, with consideration given to Ratings in the first instance.

  5. DUAL ACCEPTORS/NOMINATORS


    In the event that horses have gained a start at another meeting these horses are not guaranteed to gain a start at this meeting.

  6. GOLD CHIP


    For non-win (MR), or up to 1 win trotters for lifetime aged three years and older at the closing of nominations for the Invercargill HRC meeting to be held on Friday 1st March 2024. Conditions: 1. Open to all trotters aged three years and older that have never won a race (non-winners, MR), or have won one win for lifetime. 2. To be eligible to start in the Gold Chip Championship Trot a horse must start in at least one race or an open trot race run by Southern Harness Racing Clubs (Invercargill HRC, Oamaru HRC, Northern Southland TC, Wyndham HRC, Winton HRC and Wairio TC) in the period from 1st March 2024 through to 27th April 2024. The 'R' rating horses must win their second respective race at one of the Southern Harness meetings to be eligible 3.Field selection for the Gold Chip Championship will operate as follows: Most wins at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, most 2nds at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, most 3rds at a Southern Harness Club meeting during that period, then Club Discretion. 4.The $15000 Gold Chip Championship held on 4th May 2024 at the Riverton TC meeting and will be raced over 2400m, from a standing start. (non-winners, MR) will start from the front line, R rated horses from a 20 metre handicap.

  7. SOUTHERN BELLE SPEED SERIES


    1. Open to all 4 year and older mares up to rating R70 as at 1st January 2024. 2. The heats will be Preferential Barrier Draw based on winning stakes using the track grid. 3. To be eligible to start in the final any mare must have started in a heat of the series. 4. Where a mare is accepted for a heat and that heat is cancelled the mare will be eligible for the final at the discretion of the Club's balloting committee which hosts the final. 5. The winner of a heat will gain automatic qualification for the final. A horse can win two heats and then be ineligible to start in any further heats. 6. Mares will earn points in the heats as follows: 1st - 10 points, 2nd - 5 points, 3rd - 3 points, 4th - 1 point. 7. A minimum of 6 horses will be required for a heat to be run. The highest points scorers in the heats will be selected to start in the final - a maximum of 13 starters - mares with equal points will be selected at the discretion of the club holding the final. Mares selected to start in the final will not be eligible to start in other races on the day of the final.
