AMENDED CONDITIONS FOR THE RE-SCHEDULED
MACCA LODGE/NEVELE R SOUTHLAND OAKS – 4YO Mares (G3) &
ALABAR SOUTHERN SUPREMACY STAKES – 4YO Geldings & Entires (G3)
Qualification for Finals – the fields will be determined in the following order:
1) In order of the highest stake earnings based on the following criteria:
a) All handicapping earnings for the 2019/2020 season up to and including 31 July 2020 at Southern Harness Clubs (Central Otago, Gore, Invercargill, Northern Southland, Riverton, Roxburgh, Tuapeka, Wairio, Winton and Wyndham) meetings only for placings – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th only.
2) a) All horses must start in at least two totalisator races during the 2019/20 season run by
Southern Harness Racing Clubs to be eligible for the respective finals.
b) Final fields will be selected on the highest stake earnings won at Southern Harness Racing
Club meetings listed above in 1(a).
c) The total stake for each re-scheduled final will be $30,000. Both will be Group 3 races.
d) The re-scheduled Finals for the 2019/2020 season will be run at Ascot Park on Thursday 29
October 2020 will have a maximum field of 12 starters: 8 from front line and 4 from second
line. Fillies: 2700m Mobile, Colts & Geldings: 2700m Mobile.
e) The leading stake earners in both series starting each race day will wear sponsors colours.
f) Following the completion of racing for season 2019/20 Southern Harness will publish on its website the Order of Entry based on the above criteria for both the Oaks and Supremacy. The top 12 in each race at 1 August 2020 are deemed to be automatic qualifiers; and as such will be ineligible to race in any other event on Thursday 29 October at the Invercargill HRC meeting. An automatic qualifier is any horse that is in the top 12 stake earners for both series that hasn’t been officially withdrawn from the race series by 31 July 2020. No horse outside of the top 12 automatic qualifiers 1 August 2020 is obligated to run in the Oaks/Supremacy Final; however horses outside the top 12 are welcome to nominate.
g) In the event there are seven or fewer acceptors for either race the host club reserves the right to abandon that race.
