Super six day for Nathan Williamson

Southern driver Nathan Williamson won six of the ten races at the Wyndham HRC meeting at Winton today and he also trained four of the winners.

It was the first time Williamson has driven six winners on a racecard.

“They all drew well, which made the difference,” Williamson said.

First starter Redback Bob (Majestic Son) trained by his father Phil got the ball rolling when he led and easily won the non-winners Mobile Trot by four lengths.

“A really lovely horse but still green. He did it today with gears left.”

Simply Amazing (Bettor’s Delight) aided by a perfect draw, trailed the pacemaker Sagwitch and came off his back at the top of the straight to win his second race in fourteen starts.

“He’s been over racing a bit which has been to his detriment, but today he dropped the bit nice, so I was pleased.”

Rise Up N Dance (Art Major) was rewarded for some consistent form when he won the R35 Mobile by a length and a quarter.

“He was good today but he’s still got more in there. I wonder whether having a win like that will do him the world of good. We’ll keep him fresh until the final in three weeks and I think that’ll serve him well.”

In the very next race, the royally bred debutant Rakmacknra (Captaintreacherous) sat parked and cleared out to win by seven and three quarter lengths, running his last quarter in 26.8.

“It did surprise me a bit, but he’s just turned the corner. I don’t know why. Max (Hill) has done a lot of the work with him so he deserves a lot of the credit. Normally I like to give them a little bit more practice than he had, but he’d stepped up and he’s quite sensible. He impressed me today.”

Rakmacknra is out of Raksdeal who at two and three raced against quality fillies like Venus Serena, Ideal Belle and Willow. She was placed in three Group One races – the New Zealand Oaks, Three Year Old Diamond and Sires’ Stakes Fillies Championship.

“She was a superstar mare and being by Captaintreacherous he’s got the pedigree there.”

Class prevailed when Indulge Me (Downbytheseaside) took the R36-R45 Mobile Mile, winning by a length and a quarter and running the mile in 1-55.9.

“I was really happy with her. She went really good. All the credit there goes to John and Katrina Price (owners). They prepped her up and I’ve just had her for a matter of weeks and topped her off for this. The New Zealand Oaks will be her main target. She was probably a good thing beaten in the Northern Oaks when she got knocked over. Then she ran second in the Sires’ Stakes Final. She’s an extremely talented filly and it’s exciting going forward.”

Williamson rounded off his day by driving the Brent McIntyre trained Delphyne (Sundon) to win the R35-R45 Mobile Trot by three and three quarter lengths.
