Trendy’s Star wins for Stratford/Hurrell combo
Trendy’s Star, (Sky Major) after a picture-perfect drive from Mark Hurrell, cleared maiden class at Ascot Park today.
From the inside of the second row Hurrell was quickly able to push through to be three back on the outside early. With a lap to run, he hooked out and moved up to sit parked outside the leader La Familia before Cash Is King came round and provided cover.
Turning in, Hurrell pushed out three wide, quickly got to the top and held out a late charging Americana Elite to win by three quarters of a length with Cash Is King a length and a quarter back in third.
“She’s had three starts prior to today. Two of them have been from one, the second line and the other was from the outside of the front line – she had no luck in any of them. Lucky Mark got her off the pegs straight away and into a good pozzy so it was a beautiful drive,” trainer Tony Stratford said.

Trendy’s Star is out of the Badlands Hanover mare Trendy’s Bad Girl who’s a half-sister to Betterthanrocket (22) and Santana’s Rocket (6).
“A nice natured horse that’s goes around in an open bridle. She’s a nice filly. She’s got a bit of upside to her so she’s got a good future.”
