Southern driver Mark Hurrell has nine drives across the ten races at Invercargill tomorrow.

Here are his thoughts on each runner.

Race One: Pacific Arc (Washington VC) – trainer Brian Norman (F2)

“He hasn’t had a good draw for a long time. The one horse (Rakamick) looks like he’s got enough gate speed to hold me out. He seems to go good when he’s not used early and he’s been hitting the line well after building from the 500-600 metres. He’s probably a pretty good chance,” Hurrell said.

Race Two: Majestic Daughter (Majestic Son) – trainer Richard Austin (F6)

“I couldn’t trust her a hell of a lot. She galloped for no reason twice last week and before that, galloped twice as well. So I’d be holding my breath if I was backing her.”

Race Four: Kusama (Art Major) – trainer Craig Ferguson (F1)

“She’s been going good without a hell of a lot of luck and they’ve been pretty competitive mares races. She drops back to a nice smaller field and gets a good draw. I’ll look to drive her positively and give her a chance. She won a few starts ago by being in front.”

Race Five: Glendhu Mischief (Imperial Count) – trainer Brian Norman (F3)

“I didn’t drive him at his last start and he galloped for what looked like no reason. Before that he’d been pretty bomb proof. He’d be a good chance if he brought his manners.”

Race Six: Sweet Expresso (Sweet Lou) – trainer Kirstin Green (SR 3)

“I haven’t driven her for a few starts but she’s gone the odd good race here and there. It looks to be a pretty competitive maiden field. She’ll need a bit of luck but probably not a bad chance at some value.”

Race Seven: Superfast (Washington VC) - trainer Brian Norman (F3)

“I was happy with his run last time. She was probably getting ready to retire and getting to the end of it. She was one spot back from winning the race last start and got home really well. If she goes as good as she did last time she could probably run a place.”

Race Eight: Lil Whip (Father Patrick) – trainer J Kirstin Green (F8)

“I’ve driven her a few times and she’s usually pretty safe from the mobile. She seems to go good when she’s in front, but it’s hard to get there all the time so probably a cheeky place chance.”

Race Nine: Nutcracker (Bettor’s Delight) – trainer Amber Hoffman (F7)

“She was real good last start, got the splits at the right time and managed to get up and win what I thought was a pretty nice race. This week doesn’t look a hell of a lot stronger. She’s paying good money. They’ll just need to run the race at a genuine tempo for her but there’s no reason she couldn’t be winning that race.”

Race Ten: Donny Do (Sweet Lou) – trainer Kirstin Green (F3)

“He’s only had three starts this time in and seems to be improving every time he goes out. If he got a nice trip he could be a nice each way chance.

Hurrell rates Pacific Arc and Kusama as his best winning chances.
