Astute drive gets Aveross Majesty home
A handicap advantage of thirty metres on the favourite Tarragindi plus an astute drive by Carter Dalgety, got evergreen trotter Aveross Majesty (Majestic Son) home at Winton today.
“The plan was to go to the front and keep them honest in behind. Carter drove him a treat and was able to rate him beautifully in front,” Waikouaiti Beach trainer Denis O’Connell said.
After settling third on the inside, Dalgety moved Aveross Majesty off the inside to ensure pace was kept on, making it harder for Tarragindi who settled last. The move also opened up the field.
At the 1200, driver Ollie Kite made his move with Tarragindi moving out three wide and progressing forward to sit parked.
At the 400 Aveross Majesty and Tarragindi came away from the field. When the leaders straightened for the run home, Aveross Majesty got two lengths on Tarragindi and at the line he had three quarters of a length to spare on Tarragindi with The Greek Freak seven and a quarter lengths back in third.
“He’s been going good races and I’ve been happy with the way he’s been finishing his races.”

The win was the ten year old’s fifteenth and takes his earnings to over $150,000. His last win was at Ascot Park over a year ago.
“He loves working on the beach and loves racing as well. The grass at home and lucerne hay keeps him happy.”
The win was Dalgety’s 41st for the season and gives him a five win buffer on Wilson House in the New Zealand Junior Drivers Championship.
