Kirstin Green on her runners for Ascot Park

Tisbury trainer Kirstin Green has three runners across the nine race card at Ascot Park tomorrow.

Tom Kilkelly of Regent Car Court who’s sponsoring the day, is Green’s biggest client.

Major Burns (Art Major), which is owned by Kilkelly, resumes after last racing at Winton at the end of August. He’s had two workouts to prepare him for the appropriately named Happy Birthday Tom Kilkelly Pace.

“Obviously it’s a little bit risky first time from the stand, but he stepped away nicely at the workouts. He seems forward enough from what he’s done so far. He should be finishing off his race at the end,” Green said.

In Race Four Green lines up Ginerva (Bettor’s Delight). Her form has been solid and she gets a nice draw to work with.

“It was a better run last time when she sat parked on a strong time and was still there at the end. She’s come back in grade a little bit but drawing one could be tricky because there’s a lot of gate speed on her outside. If she can hold her own she gets her chance.”

In the fourth heat of the Vetsouth Equine Southern Belle Series, Green drives stable runner Just Like Jagger (Vincent). She was caught wide at her last start, finishing nineth.

“It was a disaster to be hung out three wide the whole way on a fast time, but I thought she did really well. I thought she’d be long gone but she was still there at the top of the straight. Toscana is pretty classy but on her day she’s (Just Like Jagger) probably just as good as them.”

Green tagged Ginerva for a place as her best bet.

“She’s due to hit form. The quick backup for Just Like Jagger is a bit questionable.”
