Show Stopper wins her way into Southern Oaks Final

Carter Dalgety dictated all the terms when driving Show Stopper (Downbytheseaside) in the second heat of the Macca Lodge/Nevele R Stud Southern Oaks at the Wyndham meeting at Gore Raceway today.

“The last few starts I’ve taken the trail on her and she just hasn’t been that comfortable taking the passing lane. So I thought I’d take luck out of the equation. She felt awesome,” Carter said.

Trained by his parents Cran and Chrissie, Show Stopper took charge early, before clearing out at the top of the straight.

“She’s very fast. You can sort of save her up and let her rip. She’s got a great turn of foot and it was on display today.”

Show Stopper went on to win by three and three quarter lengths from Seeking Clarity with Treacherous Me a head back in third.

“The main reason we brought her here was because the final is at Invercargill and Dad thought that if she got round this track she’d handle Invercargill. She was really good and didn’t miss a beat, which gives us confidence.”

The $60,000 G2 Macca Lodge/Nevele R Stud Southern Oaks Final will be run on Diamonds Day on Sunday 26^th April at Ascot Park.

“I think she’ll be a huge chance for sure.”
