“SBSR Headliner Series” – Ruby Roe
Four year old mare Ruby Roe has always raced against the best and she’s put together a fine record, that hopefully she’ll extend in the coming months.
By super sire Captaintreacherous out of Arden Caviar, Ruby Roe was bred and is raced by John and Katrina Price and over her career has been trained by the Prices and Branxholme horseman Nathan Williamson.
Her feature win came in the Wyndham Champagne Stakes. She ran third in the Caduceus Club Three Year Old Ladyship Stakes behind All You Need Is Me and Duchess Megxit and second in the Premier Mares Championship which was won by Lakelsa.

So how much has she improved this time in?
“She probably didn’t have to improve too much. She’s got a lot of ability but mentally she’s a bit fragile so that’s her biggest obstacle. Her speed and ability don’t let her down. She’s had the tripping around now and hopefully will start to furnish into what she’s going to be. I think she should be in for a pretty good spring campaign,” Williamson said.
The main targets for Ruby Roe will be the mares races, including the $60,000 Group Two Woodlands Stud Spring Sprint at Addington on 10th October and the $60,000 Group Two Ladies Sprint Ashburton on October 27th.
“With this mares sprint series they’re all in the one island and all racing together which is a great initiative. It also shows how needed it was to have that regular racing for those better class mares,” Katrina stated.
