"SBSR Headliner Series" - Miki's Deal
Bred and raced by Winton plumber Marty Fairbairn, Miki’s Deal has been one of the early season two year old filly stars.
“She seems well. She’s quite a relaxed horse. Not robust, but a fine racy type and we’re happy with her,” said her trainer Brett Gray.
In two starts Miki’s Deal is unbeaten. Both of her wins were in Group Two features – the Two Year Old Fillies Southern Classic at Winton and the Bionic Chance Two Year Old Fillies Bracelet at Addington.
“She’s got great speed and can stay a bit. At her last start at Addington she showed great staying ability.”

The classy SBSR filly will start the second part of her season at Addington this Friday in the $30,000 Caduceus Club Two Year Old Fillies Classic Prelude.
She’ll then fly north for the $100,000 Group One Caduceus Club Two Year Old Fillies Classic at Alexandra Park on September 19th
“Auckland will be her first big trip. She’s only had that one big trip up to Christchurch. I think she’s getting the hang of it.”
The Caduceus Club feature will be Miki’s Deal’s first attempt at racing right handed but Gray doesn’t think it’ll be a problem.
“To be fair she probably steers better the Auckland way than the Addington way. I work my horses the Auckland way quite a lot anyway.”
After Auckland she’ll head back to Ryal Bush and be prepared for the third heat of the Dunstan Horsefeeds Sires Stakes at Addington on October 3rd.
All going to plan she’ll then run in the fourth Sires Stakes Heat at Ashburton on October 27th before heading to the Group One $200,000 Dunstan Horsefeeds Sires Stakes Final at Addington on November 14th.
Miki’s Deal is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Delightful Deal which won four of her twenty four starts and was placed a further eight times for Nathan Williamson.
The filly’s pedigree goes back to a breed that was developed in the 1970s by Bill Kennedy, the father of well known Southland breeder and SBSR founder Dave Kennedy.
