Captain Tom heads to the workouts

Captain Tom (Captaintreacherous) is making good progress for his harness racing return with the Sires Stakes and Supremacy Stakes still very much on his agenda.

The three year old trained by Alister Black has won three of his five starts but finished last at Addington on 10^th February where driver Nathan Williamson reported that the gelding wasn’t travelling well and hung inwards rounding the last bend.

A subsequent vet examination didn’t reveal any major problem and the horse was given a short freshener by Black.

“He’s coming along nicely and is going to go the workouts on Friday where he’ll have a quiet run. I’ll probably give him another one (workout) the following week and there’s a heat of the Garrard’s Sires Stakes at Addington on 8^th April for him in preparation for the Supremacy.”

The Group Two $45,000 Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes Final is on Diamonds Day Sunday 23^rd April at Ascot Park.

“He’s done plenty of work at home and seems bright and happy. It’s not going to be easy but there’s only one way to find out if you’re good enough and that’s to front up.”

There’s also another heat of the Sires Stakes at Addington on the 5^th May with the Group One Final a week later.
