A handful of harness racing pacers and trotters qualified at the Young Quinn Raceway at Wyndham yesterday. It was great to see fresh faces that’ll will help bolster the Southern racing stocks in the busy months ahead.

Three year olds Major Envy, (Art Major) Flying Ellie, (Art Major) and Grubscrew (Bettor’s Delight) lined up for Branxholme trainer Nathan Williamson and they all qualified.

Major Envy is a filly out of Gotta Envy Go Harmony, a four win Christian Cullen mare whose dam Elect To Live (Live Or Die) won nineteen races and over half a million dollars.

Flying Ellie is out of a seven win Badlands Hanover mare Hi Ho Silver Lining and her pedigree includes Sharp And Telford (Butlers BG) which won sixteen races in New Zealand.

Grubscrew is a colt out of Onebeachsomewhere (Somebeachsomewhere) which is a half-sister to Time Flies (In The Pocket). Time Flies won thirty six races.

Art Major colt Major Art won his pacing qualifying heat impressively from Cold Pursuit (Washington VC). Trained by Craig Ferguson Major Art is out of the four win Bettor’s Delight mare Glenferrie Classic, a daughter of New Zealand Cup winner Mainland Banner (Christian Cullen) which won seventeen of her twenty two starts.

Cold Pursuit is out of Julia Jones, (Julius Caesar) a half sister to millionaire pacer Sokyola (Soky’s Atom) which won a remarkable sixty six races.

Zamperini (Sweet Lou) also trained by Nathan Williamson, won his pacing qualifying heat by coming from well back in the field to win.

He’s out of the American Ideal mare Glenburn Joy which won two races for Brent Shirley. Glenburn Joy is a half-sister to Boots Electric (Somebeachsomewhere) the winner of twelve races in Australia including the Group One Four Year Old Bonanza. Robyns Art (Art Major) trained by Ross and Chris Wilson finished second and also qualified.

Williamson lined up three well bred trotters in the Trotters Qualifying Heat. Bill Bootit (Majestic Son) beat stablemate Del’s Creation (Creatine) with Gus (Majestic Son) finishing third. All three ran within the qualifying time.

Bill Bootit is out of Cochy Bondhu (Chiola Hanover) which won four races and is the dam of Overcast (Sundon) which won nine, Over The Love (Love You) the winner of six and Cochy Malc (Dream Vacation) also the winner of six.

Del’s Creation is out of Southland Broodmare of the Year Delcola (Chiola Cola) who’s the dam of Splash Cola (Sundon) thirteen wins, Delson (Majestic Son) nine wins, Andy Hall (Andover Hall) eight wins and Port Pegasus (Pegasus Spur) five wins.

Gus is from Kylie Ree (Monarchy) which won two Group One races in her short career. Kylie Ree is the dam of She’s Allthe Craze (Crazed) which won eight, Kiwitrix (Trixton) who had five wins and Son Of Patrick (Father Patrick) eight wins.
