It was a special day for Oamaru harness racing breeder Ray Scott.

Trotting gelding Domination’s Call (Trixton) won the Springs Rewards Final. And in addition maiden Tabasco (Bettor’s Delight) which Scott has a share in, also won.

“He bred him (Domination’s Call), and it was a $20,000 stake today. He’ll be very happy,” said trainer Brad Williamson.

Although the form line for Domination’s Call read well on the race book page, Williamson said he wasn’t too enamored with the horse’s last start second at Methven.

“Although he ran a pretty nice second the other day I wasn’t overly happy with the run. He had his chances and should have won the race. Coming into today I upped his work and I thought he’d go a bit better.”

Domination’s Call is out of the Sundon mare Domination which won ten races.

“She got to open grade back in the day and has been a good broodmare. That breed seems to get better as time goes on.”

Domination who died whist foaling in 2018, has also left The Dominator (14), Rydgemont Milly (10) and Rydgemont Son (7).

Domination’s Call was handled today by on fire horseman Rory Mcllwrick, with Williamson driving stablemate Lauries Legacy which ran second.

Now the winner of four races, Williamson says starting at Addington during Cup Week is next on the cards for Domination’s Call.

“He’ll get a few rating points now, so it won’t be easy. Ray loves to race horses at Addington and told me that if we can get a start there that’s where he wants to go.”

Brad said he was pleased with Lauries Legacy’s improved run for second.

“I put the half hopples on her today because she’s been making lots of mistakes. They helped her trot, but I still wasn’t happy with the way she trotted. She needs bigger tracks.”

Scott is one of a large group that owns Tabasco. The three year old gelding capped off some good maiden form and capitalized on a nice trail behind leader Sophie to get up the passing lane and beat Sophie by a length and a quarter.
