It is one of the south’s premier race days – the Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup day on Saturday, 29 January.

Featuring the prestigious Group 3 Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup to be run over 2700 metres for a stake of $30,000, the Arden Lodge Robin Dundee Crown plus a heat of the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes.

There will be prizes to be won and giveaways galore with the extremely popular Bet’s In The Bag back again. Fill in a coupon, place it in the barrel in the main foyer of the racecourse and several draws will be made to win one of several betting vouchers of up to $200 to use on the day. One of those winners will also receive the opportunity to go in the draw later this season to try and win a trip to the Peninsular Beachfront Resort in Mooloolaba – travel permitting. To win any of these great prizes you must be on course on the day and be 18 years of age and over. Staff and committee members and their families are not permitted to enter and only one entry per person is permitted.

Free children’s entertainment – mini jeeps, bouncy castle, bumper balls, a kids tote, sack races, a heads & tails game, a free lolly giveaway after Race 6, guess the number of lollies in the jar and horseshoe throwing.

Bring along a coupon from next week’s Southland Express and the first hundred children accompanied by an adult will receive a free hot dog and chips.

The club will also provide free tea and coffee in Lizzy’s Café on the ground floor of the main grandstand all day long for patrons while there will be $12 plated meals with a choice of ham, salad and fries or blue cod, eggs and fries.

Admission on the day is free.
