GROUP TWO RACES
Qualification for Finals –
The fields will be determined in the following order:
1) In order of the highest stake earnings based on the following criteria:
a.All handicapping earnings for the 2018/2019 season up to and including 23rd April 2019 at Southern Harness Clubs (Gore, Invercargill, Northern Southland, Riverton, Tuapeka, Wairio, Winton and Wyndham, Roxburgh and Central Otago) meetings only for placings – 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th only.
b.All Sales Series earnings are excluded.
2) a) All horses must start in at least 2 races in the current season run by Southern Harness Racing Clubs to be eligible for the finals.
b) Final fields will be based on the highest stake earnings won at Southern Harness Racing Club meetings listed above in 1(a).
c) Stakes for each final will be $50,000.
d) Finals for the 2018/2019 season to be run at Invercargill on Diamonds Day on Saturday 27th April 2019 will have a maximum field of 12 starters: 8 from front line and 4 from second line.
Fillies: 2700m Mobile, Colts & Geldings: 2700m Mobile.
a.Leading stake earners in both series starting each raceday will wear sponsors colours.
b.Trainers to advise Club by 5 p.m. Tuesday 23rd April 2019 if their horse is within the top 12 qualifiers and you will not be starting on the day so the next available qualifier can be notified.
c.The top 12 eligible qualifiers at the conclusion of qualifying i.e. 5 p.m. Tuesday 23rd April 2019 for both the Oaks & Supremacy series will be ineligible to race in any other event on Finals Day 2018. An Eligible Qualifier is any horse that is in the top 12 stake earners for both series that hasn’t been officially withdrawn from the race series by 5 p.m. Tuesday 23rd April 2019 or exported from New Zealand at that time. An Eligible Qualifier that withdraws after the 23rd April 2019 cannot start in any other race on Finals Day. No horse outside of the top 12 qualifiers following 23rd April 2019 has to run in the Oaks/Supremacy Final, however horses outside the top 12 are welcome to nominate.
d.A $500 bonus will be paid to the first Southland Owned horse home. To be eligible owner must be a member of the Southland Standardbred Breeders Assn.
