Always A Menace continues the Brinsdon legacy
At start three, four year old menace Always A Menace (Always Miki) has continued the great harness racing record held by her mother Phantom Menace with a win at Cromwell today.
Driver Blair Orange settled the four year old well off the pace set by favourite Janaka’s Delight. At the 1200 metre mark Orange let Always A Menace slide forward three wide and was sitting parked with a 1000 to run. As Janaka’s Delight and Always A Menace levelled out for the run home Always A Menace proved too tough, winning by a head.
“She’s been pretty natural and is good in the wind, and a good trainer. I think she’ll be better over distance, hence why Blair put her in the race today,” trainer Matt Brinsdon said.
Always A Menace has had no trials or workouts prior to today’s race.
“She’s a naturally fit horse.”
Phantom Menace won eight races and at stud left Phantom Grin which won eight, Can Go Like El which also won eight and Mach Quillan which won five.
Always A Menace is the last foal of Phantom Menace.
