The Bandar has landed

Southland trotter Smokin Bandar (Monkey Bones) has arrived safe and well in Sydney ready for a month of harness racing in Brisbane.

“I couldn’t be happier. He travelled over good and hasn’t lost any condition. He ate up last night and ate his breakfast this morning. He’s handled the trip really well,” trainer Craig Ferguson said speaking from Menangle where the horse to stationed.

He said the horse will be on light duties for a few days before his training is stepped up.

“He’ll have a bit of a swim or perhaps go on the water walker – something that’s reasonably quiet. He hasn’t done a lot since he won at Addington and the way he’s travelled over here we could probably put a bit of work into him because he’s going to have to be on his game in the next month or so.”

Smokin Bandar will have his first start at Albion Park on Friday 23^rd June.

Ferguson said there was a slight frost in Sydney this morning, but the temperature will climb to 18 degrees as the day unfolds.

Smokin Bandar and Ferguson will head up to Brisbane later this week with Sydney trainer Jack Trainor.

“I can’t wait to get up to some warmer weather.”
